This building is the one nearest to SE corner of the Colorado & Louisiana intersection. It is one of 3 buildings in Empire Park.

Parking is free for 2 hours. Just enter on Harrison Street, where you will see a ticket booth.

I also offer teletherapy to clients who prefer convenience!

What are your fees?

Beginning therapy might feel like a huge first step, so I offer a discounted package that includes the first three 60-minute sessions for $460 when paid at the time you schedule your intake session. This is a savings of $80 for the first 3 sessions. In these sessions we will have a chance to get to know each other better and begin learning some tools to use both in and out of the therapy session.

This package is only offered for the first three sessions for all first time clients. These fees take effect on August 1, 2023.

Each session thereafter is $180 for a 60-minute individual adult session.

Do you accept my insurance?

I am an out-of-network provider. This means that my clients pay me directly. If they choose to seek partial reimbursement from their insurance, I will provide a superbill which they can submit to their insurance for potential reimbursement.

I choose to remain an ‘out-of-network provider’ for many reasons. Honestly, no one likes jumping through hoops! Personally, I prefer putting my focus, energy, and time solely on you, because you are far more interesting than insurance companies.

I place a high value on my skills, training, and the field of psychotherapy and counseling in general. Insurance companies say they value you and me, but their actions speak louder, as they continue to reimburse therapists at extremely low rates, dictate what methods therapists should use, and set time limits on healing.

Honestly, after spending years in school, many hours to become licensed, continued time and money for consultation and continuing education to remain relevant, I choose not to spend my time jumping through the hoops of managed care.

How do I begin when I’m feeling unsure?

First, you gather up the tiniest bit of courage.

Next, call me to set up a time free of distraction so that you can take advantage of my 20-minute free consultation.

Most people find the consultation extremely helpful as it clarifies their needs, and they feel validated.

You and I can then determine if we might work well together.

You will likely feel empowered to take the next steps: complete some forms, schedule your intake session, and take advantage of the discounted package!

What is therapy with you like?

Most people say it’s like talking to a supportive friend. You will experience kindness and compassion while being challenged to see how you may choose to make changes.

On your path to transformation, there will always be kindness and compassion.

I will show up for you no matter what your mood or experience. And therapy always works better when you do the same.

How do you show up, you ask? By being your honest, genuine self. Therapy works better and is more efficient when you work on your newly learned skills throughout the week.  And, when you spend time reflecting on your innner world to see what comes up as a result of the work done in session.

I strive for mutual honesty in our therapeutic relationship. This happens when we collaborate.

What exactly happens in session?

Lots of listening on my part, with bits of guidance, encouragement, and learning.

I love hearing your story and helping you find your own unique way to make meaning out of your story.

Then, if you desire to change your story, I will help you find a way to do so. I also help you integrate your new story into your current life.

We do this through talk, experiences, the use of EMDR… and sometimes through play (on days when you’re feeling an abundance of courage)!

Why did you want to become a therapist?

Pema Chodrin defines compassion as “knowing our darkness well enough that we can sit in the dark with others”. Darkness is a part of everyone’s life, myself included.

While I had a great family life growing up, I lost my older brother and sole sibling to cancer. This happened at a pivotal time in my life when I was about to go off to college. The edict of many was that I needed to “be strong” for my parents. I took that to heart, consquently ignoring my own grief for nearly a decade.

This bottled up grief was unloosed in the form of postpartum depression. It was only through therapy that I was able to walk the path of transformation, facing my darkness and getting to know it well. As a result, I have a strong desire to help others get to know their darkness well.

What type of training do you have?

My formal training resulted in a BA in Elementary and Early Childhood Education, a MS in Family Life Science, and a MA in Counseling Psychology.

I worked extensively with young children and their families in schools, churches, early intervention, and therapy settings.

My internship and work with a group practice provided me with expansive experience and training in play and trauma-informed therapy.

I am certified in EMDR therapy and have advanced training in the use of EMDR with adults traumatized in early childhood, with anyone who wants to break the cycle of trauma. I partucularlly like using EMDR along with attachment theory and internal family systems.

What do you do outside of work?

(I love spending time with my husband, children and grandchildren.

I appreciate the greeting I receive from my beagle when I am done working, return home, or anytime, really.

I love to read, always feel better when I exercise, enjoy singing (even if others might not appreciate hearing), and love to travel to old and new places.

I enjoy all of the seasons, but my favorite is Fall.
